The Things We Don't Photograph

Some moments become important precisely because we never thought to take a picture of them.

The Things We Don't Photograph

There are moments we photograph because we know they matter.

And then there are the moments we never photograph at all.

Maybe we were too busy living them.

What remains

A photograph can preserve a moment, but it cannot always preserve what the moment felt like.

Sometimes memory keeps a different kind of record.

A sound.

A road.

A conversation.

The light at the end of an ordinary afternoon.

And perhaps those are the things worth keeping in a notebook.

Not everything worth remembering needs to be photographed.

The Notebook is a place for those things.
